Therapy at Play (TAP) was founded in early 2010 by Zarah Gosiengfiao, OTR/L, PAM, SWC, ASDCS and Courtney Markovich, MS, OTR/L, ASDCS . Zarah and Courtney met in 2007 and shared a passion and commitment to working alongside children and their families to help them reach their desired therapy goals. Successfully, they were able to fill a need of creating a multi-disciplinarian clinic providing skilled occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy services in the East Bay.
Often children do not qualify for school-based or medically-based services yet still would benefit from skilled therapy services. Zarah and Courtney pursued their desire to fill this missing piece in their community and to offer families the services and the hope that all children deserve.
TAP commits itself to being a neuro-affirming practice, with an emphasis on strong therapeutic relationships as well as parent participation and education. Therapy at Play has been asked by local schools to present on Occupational Therapy and to provide OT and ST screenings within preschool classrooms. TAP has a vision and is dedicated to educating health care professionals and educational staff on what is developmentally appropriate and strategies to promote physical, mental, emotional, and social development through trust and strong relationships. As Therapy at Play continues to grow our model stands firm. Our play-based environment and our warm and friendly staff create a safe place for children to learn and grow.
Therapy at Play is an interdisciplinary team of licensed and certified therapists with specialized training in private-based pediatric services. At Therapy at Play, we believe it’s important to not lose sight of the importance of play as the main occupation for our clients. We promote physical, mental, emotional and social development in a fun, safe and client-centered environment. Therapy goals are achieved through play-based interaction and parent education.
